I understand the 'Results' folder is created at the project root when I create a new project.  We have business needs to gather the test results from the entire test team, so we can generate the metrix report directly from the results folder on a shared drive.

Question #1: Is there anyway I can configure the settings so that the 'Results' folder is located on a shared drive? If so, then we can ask the entire test team to configure their results folder to the same one on the shared location

Question #2: Is it a good practice to create a project on the shared drive? I am thinking, if the answer to my #1 question is NO, then we can create a dummy project on the shared drive and have everyone copy their own test results to the 'Results' folder for that project. If we need to generate metrix report, just open this dummy project on the shared.

Thanks,

Hello Terri,

Please excuse me for the delayed reply..

As you already figured it out you cannot configure the settings so your Results folder to be on a shared drive.
Locating the project on shared drive is not a good idea if you intend multiple people to work with the project since conflicts will appear. When the project is located on shared drive only one user at a time can work with the project which is disadvantage in your case.
The solution in your case is to use TFS, Test Studio successfully integrates with Microsoft Team Foundation Server which allows multiple users to work on the same test project allowing them to check-in their results at the same time and independently.
