Hi Guys,

I am trying out Telerik trail version to see if it fits the purpose of my company trying to implement automation testing.

I have run in to some problems:
1st thing is that Test studio does not detect FF and it saying we did not detect FF please install. I have it installed and running on my machine (I have manually configured the browsers). So not sure what the problem is.

Next problem is when I am trying to run a test with Chrome it freezes on at the configuring browser step.

Other problem is when I was trying to record sign in activity on gmail login, Test studio hangs when it says logging in with the progress bar half way through the logging in process.

Also I am trying to record and TS on our web app. The recording is fine but it fails when trying to run it. All the login data is entered correctly with real typing simulation enabled but when it clicks on the login button user is unable to login and login unsuccessful message is thrown. I have made sure to try different things to solve the problem and it doesn't help. I have tried it manually with the same date and other data and they work fine.

I have also noticed that I have testing frame work firefox 3 is incompatible and TF Http FF client is installed as well.

I am not sure how I can convince my organization to pick up the tool unless I have a solution for this problems.

Thanks in advance for the help

Regards
Praveen

I had the same issue. I had to reinstall Firefox to the default directory to get Test Studio to detect it. As for the chrome issue, try to run a test in chrome immediately after restarting. After doing this and getting it to run a few times, it doesn't seem to hang for me anymore.

Hi Praveen,

In order to assist you best please give us more detailed information:

1. Did you install FireFox in the default directory (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe)?

2. What version of FireFox did you install?

3. What is the path in FireFox registry (see the attached screen shot)?

4. Could you send us a screen shot of the error?

5. Please provide a fresh application log for this behavior.

2) Regarding the Chrome problem please double check whether the Test Studio extension is enabled from Settings->Extensions.

If you haven't done so already, please calibrate your browser as seen in this article.

3) On your third issue please double check whether Test Studio is entering the correct data.

- Try to set "SimulateRealClick" property of the click step (which is clicking on the login button) to True (see the attached screen shot).
- A Jing video demonstrating the issue may also help me to better understand what is happening.

In the future could you please avoid submitting multiple issues in one ticket, the best practice is to split separate issues in different tickets which help us better investigate and handle them in timely manner.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi, I just started using my Test Studio trial version and I ran into the same issue with firefox not getting detected.

1. It is saved in the default directory (C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe)
2. Firefox version is 31.0
3. Please see attached for registry path and application log

I also tried configuring it manually but it still won't open.

Hope you could help me out. Thanks :)

Hi Boyan,

What is the recommended Firefox version if I have Test Studio 2012? The latest version of Firefox is not detected by TS 2012.
Notice that upgrading my Test Studio to the latest build is not an option at this moment within my company.

Juan Luis

Hi Juan,

Here is the release history of FireFox.

Choose some of the versions in 2012 (e.g. 4.0).

Hope this helps.

Hi, Boyan

Is that true that Firefox is not supported Telerik extensions any more? I've got problem with

-Telerik Exploratory Testing Extension

-Telerik Test Studio Automation

-Telerik Test Studio Recorder

I use it to run automate test with Telerik Test Studio (full version) - Firefox (43.0.4)

If it's true, how can we run test with Firefox.

Thanks in advance!

 Jackie

Hi Jackie,

Only Telerik Exploraetory Testing Extension is not signed by FireFox.

Test Studio Automation and Recorder extensions are signed from FireFox as of version 2015.3 of Test Studio.

If you use that version you should not have any problems with them.

Hope this helps.

It seems as though FireFox disagrees with you... :)

What are my options? I'm trying to evaluate your product with a primary use case that interops our project with a FireFox specific add-in. No FireFox, No Test Studio.

Hi Paul,

Indeed, the recorder extension seems to be failing according to your screen shot. Is that correct? We've seen this occasionally but have not identified how exactly this happens.

Can you please try uninstalling Test Studio and install it again in order to update the Firefox extensions automatically? Please also make sure you are running the latest Test Studio product version. The one we released earlier in February is labeled 2015.3.1314 which you can either download from your account (if you haven't done already) or can use the built-in Check for Update feature to update to.
