If there is any unexpected error occurred while test execution, some of the failed steps are also showing passed.

PFB the steps I followed.

1. Log into the application using correct credentials

2. Clicking one web button after logging in

3. Performing some validations after clicking the button

After login to application, application thrown an error, but the execution of steps still showing and also the showed marked as pass in the tool which is not expected.

Hello Raj,

Thank you for your question.

As of the provided details and description I suspect that the page is loaded with its elements despite the error it throws. Thus the verifications you have inserted are passing as the element actually exists on the page. You might need to change these to verify if visible or use advanced verification to double check some attributes of the element to ensure the error message will cause the test fail.

In case the above information would not be sufficient and you would need further assistance please let me know if it would be possible to provide access to the tested application.

Thank you for your cooperation in advance!

Hi Elena,

Thanks for your reply, actually if you see here, after logging into the application immediately I got an error with out performing any action with the script, as it is fatal error application going to hang with that. So there is no question of any verification etc.

Expected : Script execution should be stopped there.

Actual: It is showing some steps showing Pass - which is not expected

As you mentioned 'advance verification' I will check using that and let you know.

Regards,

Rajesh.

Hello Rajesh,

Thank you for sharing further details.

I guess you might have missed to add some screenshots. Though the important thing in this case is the application under test and its behavior. Test Studio interacts with the elements in the DOM tree and if these are available on the current page the steps might be passed although the page is not as you expect it.

Would it be possible to grant access to the page under test along with the sample test? This will allow me inspect the issue on my end.

Alternatively you could try executing the test with annotations turned on ( please see point 5 in this article) and recording a short video of that run to share within this thread.

I am looking forward to hearing from you! Thanks in advance!
