Latest version in unusable with IE, Chrome even Firefox

Hello,

I am seriously disappointed with latest version of Telerik test studio. I work on Remote Desktop. Everything was fine until recent version that completely changes recorder. In Internet Explorer 11, every time I try to do anything, the browser just freezes and crashes afterwards. Chrome shows blank white popup when using "Element highlight". In Firefox it is impossible to click "Build step".

What I am supposed to do? Current situation is very frustrating as I cannot record and run single test step.

Also is there any way how to permanently resize the recorder window? Why it now takes around 60% of space?

Hi Filip,

I'm sorry to find you are hitting those problems with the latest recorder. I can however recommend trying the latest internal build which includes multiple improvements mostly in the recording area. You can download latest builds from this page in your account.

By "permanently resize recorder window" you probably mean persisting the size on each launch? If so that's coming with the next version - it will just remember whether you have undocked the recorder window (getting it into a separate window) or the size if kept docked to the application under test.

Thanks, I'll try my luck with latest internal build.

Yes I meant persisting the size, after I resize it and exit browser...

Good afternoon Konstantin.
We started using Test Studio this week and we are encountering the same issue. We did follow your recommendation of installing the latest build but that did not resolve the situation. When do you think Telerik will resolve the issues at hand..

Hardware/OS/Browsers Information
OS Win 8.1 Pro 64bit I7 Processor with 16Gb Ram
Dual monitor setup
Latest build from your download link on the post from 9hrs ago.
Browser: IE-11.0.9600, Firefox 35.0.1 and Chrome 40.0.2214

Hi Carlos,

I'm not sure which issue you mean since the author of the thread mentioned a couple of different issues. However if you hit those with the latest internal build we will need to get more details and see what we can do to help you proceed to solve each particular problem.

Can you please submit a private support ticket from your account to share any details about the application under testing as well as sample project to replicate the issue(s) on our end? Any steps to reproduce, screenshot(s) or short video for demonstration would be great to have. Please also link to this thread for reference. Thank you!

HI,

I am also disappointed with the latest version. Whereas before I was able to smoothly highlight an element and the 'circle' icon would present itself very close so I can use the actions I wanted, the new 'header' floating bar is a nuisance and I can't get to it without highlighting other elements that I don't want.

Will the latest builds help this issue? Is there perhaps some setting i can change that will bring back the old way of handling this?

Hi,

I'm not sure I understand the issue you experience - is it the "header" you get at some unexpected location or perhaps the recorder doesn't position the highlighting rectangle at the correct place? Either way this seems a specific issue to the particular application as I haven't seen something like this with the latest release we published in February.

Can you please submit a private support ticket to share access to the application if possible? We will need to replicate this in house to isolate the problem.

In the meantime, if by any chance this is a some kind of conflict with the newly introduced HtmlTable set of translators you can quickly try disabling those and see if that helps. Just go to the Translators settings and uncheck the last item in the HTML list - "Html Table Translators".

Good morning..
I was having the same issue which i mentioned in my last post. I installed Win7 Pro as a dual boot on my laptop and when i run Test Studio from Win7 Pro i do not have the issues. Perhaps the culprit is Win 8.1?

Hi guys,

Thanks for posting details!

It looks like you are running into the Windows Display problem, which unfortunately we have no control over. The highlighting basically needs the default size of items (DPI 100%), which is a bit tricky to reset on Windows 8, if set to not default for some reason. Please find attached screen shot for reference and make sure to update the setting.
