I having problems with no log files being produced from my test runs.  I set up a test list today, went into Edit Settings, set my LogLocation and made sure CreateLogFile was checked.  Ran my test.  No log file.  Tried changing the LogLocation to my C drive.  Ran my test.  No log file.  Tried changing the location back to TestStudio's default.  Ran my test.  No log file. Are there other settings elsewhere that I need to change?

Thanks.

Hello Briar,

If you execute the test on a remote machine you can see the log as it is described in this video.

If you execute on your local machine just open the application log.

Let me know if this helps.

Hi, Boyan, thanks for your quick response.  What I am trying to do is run scheduled tests from my local computer but make the logs available on a common server for the rest of my team to see.  Is there a way to do this?  Do the logs have to be on the same machine as the test execution?

Hello Briar,

What you are trying to do is enabling the trace log which I guess will not be what you are looking for, I guess you will need the test execution log instead of the trace log. The other thing that might be valuable for you is not the log but the test results, which you can have exported in excel or word and emailed to as many recipients as you want.
You have two options to proceed depending on what you are looking for:

1. If you need the log you can create an external log file as shown in this article. Unfortunately in order to proceed you will need to use a coded solution.

2. If you need the results exported and emailed you will need to setup this when configuring the scheduling server (refer to the last section of this article) and you can specify the email recipients when scheduling the test list.

You can give them a try and see which approach will work better for you.
