Why does the email address field not accept txt addresses as valid? For instance I'd like to receive a text when a test list fails and the email address is in this format. 9995558888@txt.att.net Is there any way around this validation issue?

Hello Thomas,
I am sorry to hear about the issue you are experiencing. I have tested it on my side and you are right, this is not working. However this should be fixed in the official R1 release due in June.
Until now I can only offer you the following workaround. In the SMTP configuration please put a different email address where you should receive the emails when a test list fails, then you can configure an automatic forwarder forwarding the messages with specific subject/content to 9995558888@txt.att.net .
Thank you for your understanding regarding this matter and please excuse us for the inconvenience caused.

Thanks for the quick reply. I figured it was something in the email check for the extra periods after the @.... Look forward to seeing the fix in the R1 release.
