Yes, WebUI Test Studio is only for website functional testing. We work with HTML (which includes JavaScript contained with that HTML) and Silverlight applications contained within a browser. We do not currently support desktop applications or desktop client applications that talk to webservices. The tool is used to automate driving of a web browser only.

Hi! Are you planning to support desktop applications in the future? Right now I'm trying to find a good testing tool for a Java desktop app.

Test Studio supports WPF desktop app automation. Test Studio does not support testing against WinForms desktop applications, nor non-WPF components within a WPF app.
It is not on our road map to implement WinForms support any time soon.
