Hello Chan,
We should be able to handle the frame without and issues. Do you see the frame node in the element explorer above the element you have recorded your step against. What errors are you getting specifically?

Hi there,
It's weird. I was not be able to detect the element inside the form yesterday, but it works well today. I will ask more if any problems come up. By the way, could I ask you some basic questions about WebUI? I watched the video and know how to add a quick task, I wonder is there a way to verify a link that exist?
Thanks,

Hello Chan,
Yes, this is easy to do. Just hover over the link with the Hover-over and highlight mode turned on. In a second you will get the blue nob, click on it and choose the Quick Tasks. In the list of tasks you will get Element Exists verification and you can also add a WaitFor element exists if the page needs some time to update the DOM. You may also find this video helpful.

Hi Konstantin Petkov,
Thanks a lot for your quick response. However, I run into a serious problem when testing against our MLS web service. Both WebUI and WebUI plugin for Visual Studio 2010 freezed constantly no matter what I did to IE. I think the issue is that WebUI Studio generation could not work properly for a page with many elements. Our 'standard search' page only contains 50 elements, but our 'listing input' page could contain more than 300 elements that the customers need to fill out. I tried with our 'standard search' page and it took more than 10 mins to load, with 'listing input' page I think it would be impossible to run. And of-course after that the test failed because of timeout issue. So is there any work around for this issue?

Hi Chan,
We will definitely need more information or even access to the application to find what is causing the troubles. Before we ask for that, can you please tell us if you get this problem manually loading the site in IE or only when the recorder is attached? Is this IE v7 or v8?
May I also ask you please to try the latest build we published yesterday? It will be valuable if you can share whether the build performs better on your end. You can find that available at the latest internal build page in your account.
Sincerely yours,
Konstantin Petkov

Hi Konstantin Petkov,
Thanks again for your quick response. I'm currently using I.E 8 and it only happens when the recorder is running. Definitely, I will try your latest build now, since I'm evaluating a Web Automation Tool for our company, I came across several tools but I found that you guys Web UI very elegant and easy to use. I hope that it will work with our 'search page' since this is where I need the most automation in our web app.
Thanks,

After installing the latest internal build, I could no longer launch the application since it told me that "License could not be validated".

Hi Chan,
I have seen this message occur when the upgrade from an older version of WebUI does not remove all the licensing information from the system. To get past this, I recommend creating a backup copy of all test projects, then performing a full uninstall, followed by an fresh install of the latest build you have downloaded.
If you require any additional assistance, please let me know!

Hi Konstantin Petkov,
Thanks for the instruction. Unfortunately, this newest build suffered the same issue, any 'quick task' after browsing to the 'search page' failed. I think the cause would be timeout. It took about 2-3 minutes to load my 'search page'. Would you recommend me the next step to this problem?

Hello Chan,
We will need more information for sure. Instead of starting the recorder from the regular place when the test is opened, can you please start it from the Help - Record option? This will open another dialog with the recorder log. Please add the log into a .txt file and submit a formal support ticket where you can send it to us as attachment.
If also possible please share a public url of the application if any and grant us access if needed. You can also use the support ticket for any private info you don't want to share publicly. Observing the exact problem and be able to debug it will help us work on resolving the issue.
Thanks a lot for your cooperation and understanding!
Kind regards,

Hi Petkov,
Thanks for your good support and great suggestion. But I need a permission from manager in order to give you guys a password and id, since our web service application is a private property. In fact, I tried several other tools too, and all of them have the same issue whenever touching the main 'iframe'. They all recognized the elements nested inside the frame, by that I means, I can set checkpoint while recording it( e.g verify text present, very element exists, ...etc ). However, these checkpoints will fail whenever I execute the test. Even 'watir' does not recognize it when I run the test script. Anyways, I will get back to you as soon as I get the permission from my manager. Once again, thanks so much for your great support.

Hi Chan,
We will be happy to get this issue resolved for you with the application you need to automate. As soon as we can have access and investigate that we can keep in touch with you and share our progress. We may already have a solution but really cannot shoot in the dark without access to the exact application.
As to the permissions, we can sign an NDA if needed. Please share that with your manager and feel free to submit a support ticket for any private info.
Sincerely yours,
Konstantin Petkov

Hi Konstantin Petkov,
I already talked to my manager, and he said he will consider it next week. Since this week we have a release for our new MLS, so everyone is really busy. I'm really sorry about that. I will get back to you as soon as I have a permission from my manager.

I am trying to access this video link but the link is broken.
I am looking for help with elements. I am getting lots of failures where test studio cannot find the element.
Thanks
