Hey guys,

I am using the Free 30-day Trial Version from Test Studio.

I would like to create items that can have multiple references. This means that I can use the same element or the same step in several tests. If I change something about the element, the modification should change for all other uses of the references of this element.

Does anyone know if this is possible in the Test Studio?
In addition, how can I create such references?

So far, all I know is that you can copy items, but only the element and the last copied Version apply the modification.

Thank you for your help.

Hi Steffi,

I am glad to hear you are exploring Test Studio and its capabilities and will be happy to assist you with your query.

Test Studio uses a unique find expression for each element in the Elements Explorer. These elements gets added with each action (click or type) or verification step you record against the application under test and a referenced to it. In case any next step uses the same element and it is recorded with that same fin expression, the next step will again reference the already existing element. Additionally you can modify the recorded find expression manually if that is necessary for your needs.

Here are some notes about the Elements repository, which you also might find interesting.

To reuse any of the recorded steps, you can include them in a sub test and execute these as a step in any other test.

I hope these information will be useful for you. Of course, if you have any further queries, please, do not hesitate to contact me back to share these.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Elena
