Hi,

Since starting to work with the Runtime licence, I've had a bit of strange issue. The first test list to run, whether it's a single test or a long list always fails. 0 steps will be run.

The second time I run (same test or any other), the remote test will initialise. This is a bit of an annoyance, to always have to run dummy test to 'wake up' the system.

Running from a desktop to a virtual machine with the runtime installed.

Any idea what might be causing it?

Error log example from failed run:

Compile failed: c:\Users\jw\AppData\Local\Temp\Projects\a0d7cce8-1f04-4e92-81c7-2877f8f4f7ce\OptemisRISTest\Automated Tests\Steps [ALL}\[NEWCASE] DoubleRead_Arvika_MRN_105.tstest.cs(86,61) : error CS1061: 'Optemis_RIS_Test.Applications.TMC_RIS_WorkstationexeApplication.Create_ExamWindow' does not contain a definition for 'TxtFamilyNameTextbox' and no extension method 'TxtFamilyNameTextbox' accepting a first argument of type 'Optemis_RIS_Test.Applications.TMC_RIS_WorkstationexeApplication.Create_ExamWindow' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)

Thank you,

Jakob

Hi Jakob,

I will need few more details to be able to provide you proper advice. Please let me know which is the version of Test Studio that you are using? Do you observe this behavior in a particular project/test or in any? What if you run the lists locally?

Thank you for the cooperation!

Hi Elena

You probably noticed I have another ticket open elsewhere, I think they might be related, so perhaps it will make sense to merge them?:

http://www.telerik.com/forums/runtime-edition---test-lists-take-a-long-time-to-initialise#KYc8eJaGkECElvkLBL9zGw

To quickly reiterate: The tests fail in any project, with any test case, but only the very first test that is run remotely after the system boots up. Once that first test has failed, running 0/x steps, the next will start as expected. If run locally this behaviour never occurs.

As mentioned in the other thread I was running a very old version of TS, which I've now tried to update, only to encounter a new problem.

Thanks, and sorry for the double threads.

Hi Jakob,

Thanks for your understanding. In my opinion both threads are currently related to the same issue. Therefore I will continue the communication in your other ticket with ID 1056844. Thank you once again for your cooperation!

Hi Elena

Ok, so I've had a chance to update Test Studio and run some more tests. I installed the latest internal builds and did have some difficulties getting everything up and running, but I'm happy to report that running remote tests on the virtual machine now seems both faster and more stable.

I'll continue to monitor, but for now I think we can close this thread successfully.

However, and I apologise in advance for spamming you, but it looks like the upgrade has caused another side effect. It is quite a different issue from the one discussed above though, so I'll address that in another thread.

Thank you for your help so far,

Jakob

Hi Elena

I've been running some more tests this morning, and the whole process is decidedly smoother and more stable than before, so yes, that's great, thanks :)

On the other hand, I've created another thread here regarding the other issue I mentioned:
http://www.telerik.com/forums/run-a-key-press-event-before-or-during-application-initialisation#cmdjIDN_E0KnEGQhpM6Cgg

It would of course be much appreciated if you or one of your colleagues could have a look at your convenience.

Thank you,

Jakob
