I have a silverlight application and as I start recording steps, I can see the "Detect Silverlight " screen, so I think it should have noticed that I have not just a HTML webpage.

I can record steps as normal, but sometimes (I cannot say when during the recording) it does not record steps like typing text in a Textbox. It seems, that it does not get the element or something.
I stop the record and start it again for sometimes.
Somehow it is working again, but haven't done anything in between to get the connection stable.

Can you tell me what I can do, that Telerik Test Studio notices all my steps or what can I check, what is maybe wrong, when a step is not beeing recorded?

Best regards,
Adriane

Hello Adriane,

Please excuse me for the delayed reply.

Yes you are right, most probably the issue you are experiencing is that you cannot click/get the correct element. However in order to overcome this you can add the element manually and have a step against this element added manually as well. Here is how to proceed:

1. Navigate to the element in question that is not recorded.
2. Enable highlighting using the second button from the recording toolbar on the top right of the window(see the highlighting.jpg screenshot)
3. Hover over the element for 2 seconds until you notice the blue nub.
4. Drag the blue nub to the left, towards the elements menu, a panel will appear on the left. Drop your element on the top item (add to project elements.jpg)
5. Now you have the element to work with.
6. Select the element and click on the gear wheel on the elements menu (step suggestions.jpg)
7. Select the appropriate step.

For your convenience I am providing you with a short video I just recorded for you, showing the steps described above.

Should you have any additional questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

Hello Ivaylo,

sorry for the delay, but now I tried some things, but this has the same effect, it seems, that there are some elements that Telerik might not be able to find correct.
So I had the feeling it sometimes worked and sometimes not.

Is there a total different way to record steps?
We have the problem everytime with Tabcontrols, if we record them we cannot replay it, the whole Browser is getting crashed (image.png).
Are there elements we cannot track with Telerik?

We also have the problem, that we have a silverlight video player included in our silverlight page. If we open the page without Telerik we can see the video, play, start, stop. If we record with Telerik, the video is not shown and therefore if we click on the buttons nothing happens. Can you imagine what a problem occurs here?

Best regards,
Adriane

Hello Adriane,

Unfortunately the screenshot is too small and I cannot see anything. It seems like a crash to me. However in order to investigate this I will need to provide me with access and step by step instructions on how to recreate the issue. From your explanation I cannot figure it out.
Another thing I can advise you is to upgrade to the latest available version of Test Studio and give it a try. You can download it using this link. Please give this a try, and if you are still experiencing the problem provide more details and options for reproduce.
