Im using the trial version of Test Studio for automation . I need to record steps of a silverlight application which opens in IE.
But when I try to record , as soon I navigate to the link in IE, i get a runtime error saying ' The application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way . '. Also after a while the application opens up , but without recording enabled and a pop up comes up saying ' Cannot connect to Silverlight Application . Silverlight recording will not function.'
Please let me know how to resolve this?
Thanks,
Divya

Hello divya,
Does this happen with every Silverlight application or only with specific one? Can you try recording against http://www.Silverlight.net/content/samples/sl4/toolkitcontrolsamples/run/default.html to verify it is also reproduced there?
If it is - can you give us the URL you are trying to automate to check it? Also what version of Internet Explorer and Silverlight do you have installed? Have you tried it on a different machine to see if it works there? Any additional information is highly appreciated in order to isolate the problem, as we are unable to reproduce it locally.

Hi ,
I tried with the URL given below and I get the same error. 'Unable to connect to Silverlight Application. Silverlight Recording will not function'.
The version of Silverlight I am using is 4.0.50917.0 and Internet Explorer is IE8 .
My colleague is also running the tool , and he has been able to successfully record the application.
Thanks,
Divya

Hello Divya,
please upgrade to the latest version of Silverlight. The one you're currently using is not the latest one.

Is this issue resolved for Divya? I just downloaded and Test Studio over this weekend and I am seeing the same error discussed in this issue. Here are some information on my configuration:
Browser: IE8
Silverlight version: 4.0.60831.0
OS: Windows 7
I already went through you "Unable to connect to Silverlight Applicaton" page. From the solution in this page, I tried 1, 2, 3 and 5. Solution #7, used fiddler and I don't see the entity titled "Content:application/x-silverlight-app" the header. Let me know where to add / modify this?
Any help in resolving this issue for me is appreciated.
Thanks

Hi,
Cody
the Telerik team
We never heard back from Divya which means we don't know whether or not Stoil's suggestion solved the problem. I just answered your support ticket on this problem. Let's continue the discussion there.
