Please tell us why you’re uninstalling:

A To install a newer or licensed version of the product

B I will not use your product anymore

Really?  No other possible reason?  Here's one:

Is suspect the extension for VS2013 is causing me an issue when VS is running, but uninstalling from within VS doesn't work correctly (it's still asking me for a trial login after having removed it).  Then, having dug up every reference to telerik under VS on disk and deleted those, it *still* asks me to login for the trial when I start VS.  Not cool guys.

So, that's why.

Guys, please make this easier.  It may not be TS that's at issue, but the issue with VS appeared within minutes of installing TS.  What you suspect?

Hello Russ,

I'm sorry to know you had such experience using Test Studio and thank for your feedback.

The recommended way to unisntall Test Studio extensions in VS is using the Test Studio installer. Any other approaches to this problem could lead to unexpected behavior. Managing installation of Test Studio components is possible from Control Panel -> Programs and Features - select Progress Test Studio and press on Change. Refer to the attached screen-shot for clarification.

It is possible not to install VS plug-ins during Test Studio installation as well (step 4 in this article).

Would you share more details on your problems in VS using Test Studio plug-ins, please? Any information that will help us to reproduce the problem on our end is highly appreciated.

Thank you again for your feedback.

Thanks for your reply, Nikolay.

Here is the issue that caused me to suspect the TS extension was causing my issue:

I use autohotkey (AHK - https://autohotkey.com).  After installing TS, my AHK macros were extremely slowly -- I could possibly type faster.  Naturally, I assumed it was something else slowing my system down, but I couldn't find anything obvious in Task Manager -- nothing was showing more than 2 or 3% CPU.  Reading AHK's Help to refresh my memory as to performance issues I did stumble on (not an exact quote) "maybe something else has installed keyboard hooks that are slowing your AHK scripts down".

As you might expect, that was the a-ha! moment.  I killed visual studio (which also killed the TS extension inside it) and also killed the TS app.  AHK macros went back to normal performance.  Hmm.  I started the TS app, macros were only *slightly* slower.

Feeling I was now onto the culprit -- the TS extension in VS -- I tried removing it.  That's what my original post is talking about.  Ended up having to uninstall the whole of TS.

Having done that, and seen that AHK was performing normally, I reinstalled TS *without* the VS extension, ran TS and then tested AHK again. I was back to nice, speedy AHK macros.

Take-away: The Test Studio extension for Visual Studio messes with the responsiveness of system wide keyboard hooks used by other software.

Thanks for reading,

Russ
