Hello all.

Does anyone know how to fix this?  Please see image #1

That's just a small section of the Toolbox - every Telerik Control has multiple entries.

Each duplicate points to the same Library.

Each tool has the identical Version as its Duplicate.

I have uninstalled, reinstalled a few times.  Does not fix it.

Telerik Toolbox Configurator does not fix it.

Help/Advice would be appreciated!

Thanks all :)

If you manually "Choose Items" you get the "Choose Toolbox Items" dialog (this guy takes a few moments to load so be patient!)

Sorting by "Name" i see all Telerik Toolbox components listed twice.  First one is Ver 2021.1.122.20 and the second one is Ver 2021.1.122.40

The first one (I'm guessing those are for .Net 2.x??) is found in the installation folder where i put the Telerik controls.

The second one (I'm guessing these are for .Net 4.x??) is found in the GAC.

BOTH components in the Toolbox are saying 2021.1.122.40 but i'm thinking those .20s are the cause of the problem or at least part of it.

I uninstalled and then re-installed thinking i could tell the installer, "DONT INCLUDE .Net 2.X" but that option has been disabled for some reason?

I'll post more information if i come across any for those having a similar problem.

I have had numerous upgrades to my Telerik controls - this problem started when i upgraded to the version mentioned above.

Hi, Curtis,

The first thing that I would recommend is to reset the Visual Studio Toolbox by right-clicking on it and select Reset Toolbox option. Alternatively, you can uninstall the Telerik UI for WinForms suite and install it again.

An alternative approach is to:

1. Close all Visual Studio instances.
2. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to %localappdata%\Microsoft\VisualStudio\15.0_<instanceID> (e.g. VS 2017). Note that you might have several such folders.
3. Make sure that the option 'Show hidden files, folders and drives' is selected in the Windows Explorer options.
4. Delete all *.tbd files.
5. Start Visual Studio 2017 and check if the issue still persists.

If there is no Telerik controls in toolbox please use Toolbox Configuration Wizard to set them.

As to the different assembly versions, the following article is quite useful on this topic: https://docs.telerik.com/devtools/winforms/installation-and-upgrades/assemblies-version

I hope this information helps. If you need any further assistance please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you Dess.

I have already done all of these suggestions several times.  I've been living with this for over a year now and will continue to work as-is.  I just wanted to see if maybe someone else had run into this and perhaps they tried something i did not.

What i have not tried yet is to manually delete those toolbox files then uninstall/reinstall.  I'll give that a go and see how it turns out.

Wish me luck and thanks again!

Curtis.

Ok!

I closed all instances of VS.  I manually deleted the toolbox files.  I uninstalled Telerik and relaunched Visual Studio.

The toolbox was "Clean"

Closed VS, reinstalled Telerik and now, finally!  My toolbox no longer has any duplicate entries :)

THANK YOU DESS!

It is really great to hear that the problem you were facing is now resolved. I would recommend you to have a look at the following article which demonstrates the main approaches for upgrading a project: https://docs.telerik.com/devtools/winforms/knowledge-base/how-to-upgrade-a-project

Feel free to use a similar approach in future in order to avoid any undesired behavior with the toolbox.
