We currently use test studio for our in house WPF application.   I am researching to find out if it will work with a third party application we use.   The application is written in COBOL.Net and xaml for the screens.   It uses a Win32 application to launch.   I experimented but with no success.

Is there a way for Test studio not to launch the application but interact with a application that is open?

Any help at all would greatly appreciated.  Thanks Rob

We're evaluating using the Testing Framework/Test Studio and wanted to know if any MVC wrappers have been created yet.  We'll be transitioning to Kendo, but right now the main body of our application is still using the MVC control set.

Thanks in advance!

Dear Team,

We bought one user licence for Telerik test studio & additional run time license with the registered name "Astoria Solutions"

Here we have an issue while executing test scripts in Windows2007 (Internet Explorer- 9). At our end, generated test scripts in XP Professional (internet explorer8) while executing the same through run time in windows2007 (IE9) getting some delay structure.

Could you please confirm the compatibility components to which do we need to install the above,  Kindly suggest us to do the best way.

We are evaluation Telerik Test Studio as a possible replacement to the Microsoft testing tools.    However, I noticed that you install the Newtonsoft.Json.dll in the GAC.  We also use that particular dll in the products we develop and having Telerik Test Studio installed causes our products not to run -- getting a runtime binder exception on the Newtwonsoft.Json.dll.

Why are you installing this dll in the GAC?  This is a common, opensource dll that should not be placed in the global assembly cache.

This is a deal breaker for us, so I'm hoping you have an alternative.

The previous version had a different database. Has this one made the old database obsolete? If so, where are the actual scheduled actions stored now? I can see the projects and test lists, but not the actual scheduled runs.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Telerik,

I am using TFS to save my project files.

But I found it failed to update Test Lists to TFS by check in the whole project sometime.

When I try to get latest test lists in another PC, the test lists was not updated. It seems confict issues of project files during checkin, correct? And I cant check in only lists files.

Attached files is the operation steps.

My test studio verison is 2012.2.1527.

Thanks and waiting you reply.

I am currently trying out the latest version of telerik test studio. However it appears my tests are not executed correctly. I tried to read this documentation:

http://www.telerik.com/automated-testing-tools/support/documentation/user-guide/knowledge-base/scheduling/resolve-common-scheduling-issues.aspx

It is highly outdated though. I checked out these files/folders on the scheduling server:

* C:\Program Files (x86)\Telerik\Test Studio\Bin\SchedulingServerConfig.log => 2 lines:

    ======  ======
    ====== Log Started ====== 23-10-2013 13:59:19

* C:\Program Files (x86)\Telerik\Test Studio\Logs => completely empty directory

How  can we get decent logs or enable logging?

Thanks!

Hi,

When we run the load test, we noticed that the Reporter signal turns into red indicating that the connection was lost. Our load test run is interrupted and stops. The load test results are not displayed. We would like to know why is this is happening. We tried to restart the services, but still encountering this issue.  We are using Product Version: 2012.2.1420.0.

I hope you could respond asap since this issue is blocking our load test runs.

Thank you.

I've setup a db in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 2012 and connected it to the Reporter just fine. When running a test the Reporter signal goes green to red continuously (unless I stay on the Environment window) throughout the run. Tables and data are showing up in my db but not on my Analyze screen in Test Studio. I'm getting absolutely no test results. Any idea why this occurs?

We are using Test Studio in order to ensure the quality of our developed Silverlight applications. Therefore we execute 11 test lists (containing about 34 single test) every night automatically. Over the last few months, when the test suite grew larger, we identified some issues in the execution of our tests. It happens very often that some tests seem to fail at random although the tests application is working correctly.

The main reasons we identified when a test failed at random were:
- Element to be clicked was not visible/enabled yet because the screen wasn't ready. The test execution was simply too fast. --> "Unable to locate element" or the click hit the disabled element.
- Error presented by Test Studio: "Execute command failed"
- unknown reason

Hence we tried to make the tests more robust and stable against unpredictable cases such as longer application/element loading times, slow service requests, busy CPU,...
This is what we tried to stabilize the tests:
- inserted execution delays before critical steps
- inserted "wait for" steps (especially waiting for BusyIndicators)
- increased WaitForElementTimeouts up to 30s
- added general execution delay for the test lists between steps (100ms-500ms)
- kill browser process on close

But we do not want to insert manual execution delays before every step we record...

Unfortunately this did not solve the problem of randomly failing tests. We still have a failure rate of 15-30% for some tests (yes, we did a detailed analysis) just because the tests are not working correctly. This results in a very time intensive effort to maintenance the tests and analyze the results. And it is kind of annoying.

At this point the automatic execution of the test lists is done at least two times a day such that we can find randomly failed tests more easy.

So the question is: do you have any tips to improve the stability and robustness of the test further?
