Hi, i've been migrating a products from JS to TS at work.
As i go through, i faced a type that is not going to be accepted in GridColumn.

My component is currently like below:

export type ClickCellProps = GridCellProps & {
  dataItem: ApprovalListItem
  field: string
}

export interface ClickCellProps2 extends GridCellProps {
  dataItem: ApprovalListGrid
  field: "manager2Name" | "manager1Name" | "typeName"
}

const ClickCell = (e: GridCellProps2) => {
 ...logic
}

<Grid>
  <GridColumn cell={ClickCell} />
</Grid>

I get this error if pass function(both  itself to the cell props:

Type '(props: ClickCellProps2) => JSX.Element' is not assignable to type 'ComponentType<GridCellProps> | undefined'.ts(2322)
GridColumnProps.d.ts(61, 5): The expected type comes from property 'cell' which is declared here on type 'IntrinsicAttributes & GridColumnProps'

(property) GridColumnProps.cell?: ComponentType<GridCellProps> | undefined

If I pass event to the function like: `cell={e => ClickCell(e)}` I get:

Argument of type 'GridCellProps' is not assignable to parameter of type 'ClickCellProps2'.ts(2345)

(parameter) e: GridCellProps

I looked on the github repo and tired downgrading ts version and set tsconfig option "skipLibCheck": true but still not get it.

Would you kindly share what is the problem of my code?

tsconfig options as below:

  "compilerOptions": {

Hello SangHyun,

I have tested the configuration in question (only by changing GridCellProps2 to ClickCellProps2, since I am assuming it was a mistake) and I do not get any errors with the latest version of the components:

export type ClickCellProps = GridCellProps & {
  dataItem: item
  field: string
}

export interface ClickCellProps2 extends GridCellProps {
  dataItem: item
  field: "manager2Name" | "manager1Name" | "typeName"
}

const ClickCell = (e: ClickCellProps2) => {
  return <td>Test</td>
}

const App = () => {
    return (
      <Grid data={sampleProducts}   >
        <GridColumn field="ProductID" title="Id" width="50px" editable={false} />
        <GridColumn field="ProductName" title="Product Name" cell={ClickCell}/>

I have also tested slightly different approach for extending the properties and it also works as expected:

interface item {
  color: string
}

interface CustomCellProps extends GridCellProps {
  myProp: Array<item>
}

const CustomCell = (props: CustomCellProps) => {
  const field = props.field || '';
  const value = props.dataItem[field];
  const navigationAttributes = useTableKeyboardNavigation(props.id);
  return (
    <td
      style={{ color: value ? props.myProp[0].color : props.myProp[1].color }}
      colSpan={props.colSpan}
      role={'gridcell'}
      aria-colindex={props.ariaColumnIndex}
      aria-selected={props.isSelected}
      {...{[GRID_COL_INDEX_ATTRIBUTE]: props.columnIndex}}
      {...navigationAttributes}
    >
      {(value === null) ? '' : props.dataItem[field].toString()}
    </td>
  );
}

const customData: Array<any> = [
  { color: 'green' },
  { color: 'red' }
];
const MyCustomCell = (props: GridCellProps) => <CustomCell {...props} myProp={customData} />

const App = () => {
    return (
      <Grid data={sampleProducts}>
        <GridColumn
          field="Discontinued"
          cell={MyCustomCell}
            />

If the issue persists, please share a runnable example that we can test and debug locally.

As of R2 2023, the default icon type will be SVG instead of Font. See this blogpost for more information.

Dear Konstantin,

Sorry for the very late response due to the unexpected work from my side.

I found that it was due to the strict flag in the tsconfig options and defining the "Field" types to `template literals` won't be matching with the GridCellProps where it is giving the my custom component `string` type.

So I figured out using the function to check the incoming string is the key of an object and it will pass the template literal and also the type safety.

Here is the sample how i passed the type check and safety issue.
(Setting the strict flag in tsconfig to false won't emit error on IDE, but prefers the strict flag as true)

Thanks for your reply which guide me quite a lot.
Wish you have great weekdays. :)

Best Regards,
SangHyun Kim
