Telerik Document Processing

.NET Document Processing Tools for Agentic Workflows

New feature
Clients can expect a new API layer designed for intelligent document automation in .NET environments. The upcoming release will include sample workflows and prompt templates to accelerate integration with AI agents.

MCP Server for Document Processing Tools

New feature
We will introduce an MCP Server exposing document querying and manipulation tools that can be either installed directly in AI Chat client for direct use or utilized programmatically for enabling agents to analyze and modify documents.

Digital signing evolution

Improvement
We will introduce DSS-compliant PDF digital signature support in Telerik Document Processing Libraries. This enhancement ensures that signed PDFs pass validation using the European Commission’s DSS validator. It improves trust, legal compliance, and interoperability for organizations operating in the EU and beyond.

XMP Data Support in PDF Files

New feature

Extensible Metadata Platform (XMP) is a standardized way to embed rich metadata (author, title, keywords, custom properties, etc.) directly into PDF files in XML form. It goes far beyond the old PDF “Info” dictionary by supporting structured, extensible data. We will introduce and gradually improve the XMP fields support.

PDF library: MIME Type for Embedded files

Improvement
We are introducing MIME type specification for embedded files in PDF documents generated with Telerik Document Processing Libraries. This enhancement ensures compliance with PDF/A-3 and Factur-X standards, enabling accurate metadata declaration for XML and other structured attachments. Developers will be able to explicitly set MIME types during embedding, improving interoperability and validation outcomes.

PDF/A Compliance Improvement

Improvement
Telerik PdfProcessing will introduce a new configuration mechanism for PDF/A export. This feature will allow developers to specify a compliant font to replace the default Standard Fonts, ensuring that generated documents meet PDF/A requirements. The update will improve compatibility with archiving standards and reduce the need for post-processing or external tools.

File format detection

New feature
We are introducing API for automatic file format detection to simplify document loading workflows. It will improve robustness and reduce errors in scenarios where file metadata is unavailable or unreliable. Expect support for the Telerik DPL-covered formats.

Excel Library: Optimized Cell Formulas Calculation Chain

Improvement

We’re significantly improving the performance and responsiveness of our Excel processing engine by introducing a calculation chain algorithm. This enhancement replaces the current event-driven recalculation logic with a smarter, dependency-aware system that updates cells in an optimal and, where possible, parallel manner.

With this update, spreadsheets will open faster, recalculate more efficiently, and scale better with complex formulas bringing our Excel library in line with modern expectations for performance and accuracy.

Excel Library: GenAI-Powered Document Insights

New feature

We’re extending our GenAI-powered document insights capabilities to Excel documents (now in Preview), enabling users to extract meaningful summaries and context-aware answers directly from document content. This enhancement eliminates the need for manual review and analysis, offering a faster, more intelligent way to understand and interact with Excel files.

The feature builds on the foundation established with PDF insights and will be showcased through an interactive online demo.

AutoFilter Support in SpreadStreamProcessing

New feature

We’re adding AutoFilter support to the SpreadStreamProcessing library to simplify data filtering in streamed Excel files. This feature will allow users to define filter criteria through the API and automatically hide rows that don’t match, as data is added to the stream. The resulting Excel file will include the applied filter, improving accuracy and saving time.
